1. Who We Are

Nivosh ("we", "our", or "us") is an Indian nutrition tracking application developed and operated by Smruti Ranjan Padhy, based in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. The app is available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

• Name, email address, and password (for account creation)
• Age, gender, height, weight, and goal weight
• Health goals (weight loss, muscle gain, maintenance, etc.)
• Diet preferences (vegetarian, vegan, Jain, non-vegetarian, etc.)
• Food allergies and intolerances
• Health conditions (diabetes, PCOD, thyroid, hypertension, anemia — optional)
• Fasting schedule preferences (Navratri, Ekadashi, Ramadan, etc.)
• Preferred language and state/region in India
• Food items and meals you log manually
• Body weight entries you log over time
• Water intake logs
• Custom food items and recipes you create

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Device type, operating system version, and app version
• App usage data (screens visited, features used, session duration)
• Crash reports and error logs (to fix bugs)
• IP address (for security and fraud prevention)
• Push notification interaction data

2.3 Photos and Camera

• When you use AI food scanning, your food photos are sent to our AI service (Anthropic Claude API) for food recognition
• Photos are processed in real time and are not stored permanently on our servers unless you explicitly save a scan
• We do not access your camera or gallery without your explicit permission

2.4 Voice Input

• When you use voice logging, your voice is converted to text on your device
• The resulting text (not audio) is sent to our AI service for food recognition
• We do not store voice recordings

2.5 Payment Information

• Payments are processed by Razorpay, a PCI-DSS compliant payment gateway
• We do not store your credit/debit card numbers, UPI IDs, or banking details
• We only store your subscription status (Free/Pro/Family) and renewal date

3. How We Use Your Information

• To calculate your personalised daily calorie and macro targets
• To provide AI-powered food recognition from photos and voice
• To generate personalised meal plans within your budget
• To show your nutrition history, progress charts, and achievements
• To send meal reminders and hydration notifications (only if you enable them)
• To adjust food recommendations based on your health conditions and fasting schedule
• To improve the app through crash reports and usage analytics
• To process your Pro or Family subscription payment
• To respond to your support queries

4. Third-Party Services We Use

To provide the Nivosh experience, we work with the following trusted third-party services:

• Firebase (Google) — Authentication, push notifications, and crash reporting. Firebase Privacy Policy
• Anthropic Claude API — AI food recognition from photos and voice text. Food images/text are processed and not retained. Anthropic Privacy Policy
• Razorpay — Payment processing for Pro and Family subscriptions. Razorpay Privacy Policy
• Open Food Facts API — Barcode lookup for packaged foods. This is an open database and no personal data is shared.
• AWS (Amazon Web Services) — Cloud hosting and data storage on servers located in Mumbai, India (ap-south-1 region).

5. Data Storage and Security

• All your data is stored on servers located in India (AWS Mumbai region)
• Data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.2+
• Passwords are hashed using bcrypt — we cannot read your password
• We conduct regular security reviews
• Access to your data is restricted to authorised personnel only

6. Health Data — Special Notice

Nivosh collects sensitive health information including weight, health conditions (diabetes, PCOD, thyroid, hypertension, anemia), and dietary preferences. We treat this data with the highest level of care.

• Health condition data is optional — you may skip it during onboarding
• This data is used only to personalise your nutrition experience
• It is never shared with third parties, advertisers, or insurance companies
• Nivosh is for informational purposes only and does not constitute medical advice

7. Children's Privacy

Nivosh is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at swiftsparrowtech@gmail.com and we will delete it promptly.

8. Your Rights and Choices

You have the following rights regarding your data:

• Access: View all data we hold about you (available via Profile → Privacy & Data)
• Export: Download your complete food log and health data as CSV (Pro feature)
• Correction: Edit your profile, health conditions, and preferences at any time
• Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data permanently (Profile → Privacy & Data → Delete Account)
• Notifications: Turn off any or all push notifications (Profile → Reminders)
• Portability: Request your data in machine-readable format by emailing us

Account deletion requests are processed within 7 business days. After deletion, your data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.

9. Data Retention

• Active account data is retained for as long as your account exists
• After account deletion, data is permanently purged within 30 days
• Anonymised, aggregated analytics data (no personal identifiers) may be retained indefinitely to improve the app
• Payment records are retained for 7 years as required by Indian tax law (GST compliance)

10. Compliance with Indian Law

Nivosh complies with the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023 of India. As a data fiduciary, we:

• Collect data only for specified, lawful purposes
• Maintain reasonable security safeguards
• Allow you to withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account
• Store all personal data on servers within India
• Do not transfer personal data outside India without adequate safeguards

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will:

• Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
• Send a push notification to all users
• Show an in-app notice on first launch after the update

Continued use of Nivosh after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
